In May, CoEHAR launched its most ambitious project to date—the Veritas Cohort study. This groundbreaking initiative has attracted over 400 participants from 27 different countries, and the number of participants continues to rise.

“The VERITAS Cohort Study aimed to analyze data from approximately 250 individuals across six global regions. These individuals have been using e-cigarettes for a minimum of three months and have no history of smoking or using any other tobacco products. The study will inquire about their vaping habits and products used to examine their health impact, in particular if their use may cause respiratory symptoms.

Currently, the research team has received over 400 applications from people who vape worldwide for the VERITAS Cohort Study. A total of approximately 27 countries are involved, including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Latvia, Mexico, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.”

“The primary objective of Veritas is to assess the long-term health impact of vaping by comparing data collected from vapers, smokers, and non-vapers. Within just a few months, the project has garnered hundreds of requests, and we are actively gathering and analyzing data. To ensure even greater success, ongoing support for the study is crucial in order to achieve a groundbreaking outcome,” stated Professor Riccardo Polosa, the founder of CoEHAR.

The study’s main aim is to investigate the effects of vaping on health over time. This will be accomplished by posing questions about health and habits to people who vape and do not.

Who can participate?

Eligible participants must be 18 years or older, residing in one of the six designated regions where the study is being conducted. They should fall into one of the following categories:

– Individuals who have been using e-cigarettes for a minimum of three months and have never smoked or have smoked fewer than 100 cigarettes in their lifetime.

– Individuals who have never used e-cigarettes, smoked, or used any other tobacco products.
