Prof. Riccardo Polosa, founder of the CoEHAR, will attend the first edition of the congress “Le strade del respiro”, dedicated to asthma and COPD. Focus of the meeting, smoking cessation and alternative harm reduction strategies
Asthma and COPD are some of the most common lung diseases, that lead to a progressive worsening of the quality of life. Bad habits, such as smoking, can aggravate the clinical picture and, as a result, patient’s health.
Cigarette smoke and toxic components produced by tobacco combustion, in fact, worsen the exacerbations of the disease and contribute to strongly invalidate the patient’s life expectancy.
Several researches carried out at CoEHAR, the Center of Excellence for the Acceleration of Harm Reduction, however, show that pathological course of the disease can be limited by adopting measures that are part of harm reduction strategies.
To present the news in the field of smoking cessation, prof. Riccardo Polosa, founder of the CoEHAR and one of the leading experts in the field of harm reduction strategies, will speak at the first edition of the congress “Le strade del Respiro”, which will be held on Saturday 5 November in Rome.
The speech “Smoking cessation in COPD: what are the viable paths in the 21st century?” will take place at 4 pm at Le Meridien Visconti Rome.
