New Zealand Ministry of Health promoted the QUIT STRONG initiative, a website that promotes vaping as a “cheaper and easier” way to quit smoking for good.

QUIT STRONG is one of the first public health initiatives in the World that embrace THR (Tobacco Harm Reduction), showing openness to strategies that can support smokers during smoking cessation programmes. Low risk products allow to provide the necessary amount of nicotine while maintaining the behavioral and psychological rituals associated to smoking.

There are better ways to quit so you can kick the smokes for good”: that’s the headline of the Quit Strong website promoted by New Zealand Public Health Authorities to inform all those who want to quit smoking about the benefits of vaping.

The Quit Strong campaign celebrates that many people do quit, and the support of others can help. With a strengths-based approach, the QuitStrong campaign uses a montage of videos that show how hard it is to quit smoking. Ordinary people, who failed multiple times, talks about their experience in the videos, with no script to refer to, bringing to light their experience and advising to turn to someone who can give support support in a path that is full of obstacles since the very beginning.

Quit Strong provides information about vaping as detailed as possible and promotes better ways to quit by linking people to support and tools that can increase their chances of giving up the smokes for good.

The site stressed the relevance of vaping, calling it a “cheaper and easier” alternative. It also provides links to Quit Coaches, professional figures who provide both online and face-to-face support.

An appealing grapichal interface combined with the New Zealand culture make the site a communication bridge between the Public Health Authorities and the population, breaking down the barriers that make scientific communication challenging to understand.
