The study addresses the limitations of current definitions, which have often been adapted from adult smoking metrics without considering how these definitions’ relevance might be affected by the unique patterns and lower risk profiles of e-cigarettes.

But how much would harm reduction and the reduction of smoking-related diseases affect international health policy strategies? Would there be fewer hospital admissions without conventional cigarette smoke? The answer will be provided by questionnaires administered to over 3000 hospitalized patients whose smoking habits and potential use of non-combustion products will be analyzed to assess the causes of hospital admission and the subsequent outcomes of the diseases identified.

New report from The Royal College of Physician: positive impact of E-Cigarettes

The Royal College of Physicians has assessed the available evidence on the use of e-cigarettes, from health effects to the issue of youth vaping, publishing a report with over 50 recommendations. It concluded that e-cigarettes represent a valuable aid in smoking cessation, but that much more can and should be done to reduce their appeal, availability and affordability to people who do not smoke, including children and young people, and reduce environmental harms.

What are the effects of vaping on never-smokers? For the first time, the VERITAS project will evaluate the impact of these devices on people who exclusively vape

Jeffrey Zamora, President of Asovape Costa Rica, President of ARDT Iberoamerica and Veritas's project leader, said: "We are using an innovative platform with a 2-step verification process where people will enroll in the study. After registering on the website, participants will be asked to provide information about the devices used, frequency of use, age of initiation, flavor preferences, motivations, and any cigarette consumption or experimentation. They will also complete the Respiratory Symptom Experience Scale, a validated scale that asks subjects to rate the frequency with which they had experienced any respiratory symptoms".
