CoEHAR exposes for the first time that most e-cigarette research is flawed and in need of urgent critical reform

Under the leadership of CoEHAR, a team of international researchers, examined the 24 most frequently cited vaping studies published in medical journals. The findings are shocking: almost all of these studies were found to be methodologically flawed; they lacked a clear hypothesis, used inadequate methodology, failed to collect data relevant to the study objectives, and did not correct for obvious confounding factors.

Smokers and Covid-19 risk: a new CoEHAR study confirms that vaccines are less effective on smokers

According to the researchers from CoEHAR, the Center of Excellence for the acceleration of Harm Reduction of the University of Catania, in partnership with the University of Pavia and the University of Milan “Statale”, the analysis of the international studies conducted on the humoral response to Covid-19 vaccines confirmed the negative impact of smoking on antibodies levels induced by vaccine and the rapid lowering of the vaccine-elicited IgG titres over six months

The geography of Harm Reduction: while snus and chewing tobacco are distributed worldwide, the literature is incomplete and deceiving

The widespread availability of safer nicotine delivery systems without the harms from tobacco, as has been demonstrated for Swedish snus and some other forms of smokeless tobacco products, is a route to ending smoking in the not too distant future as we are already witnessing in Sweden and Norway. A clear distinction needs to be made between the safer snus and refined smokeless tobacco products used in Sweden, Norway and increasingly in the US, and the far riskier unrefined SLT products used in Asia, Middle East and Africa

Harm Reduction and bias: a review confirms that ecigs are less harmful, but high-quality studies are much needed

"It is surprising to note that there are very few studies that can be considered truly informative of the risk-benefit ratio of new technologies with reduced risk in terms of their impact on health. We are proud to say that CoEHAR research ranks among the best in the current scientific landscape"
