International validation of CoEHAR studies: fewer Covid-19 hospitalization among smokers and studies on the role of nicotine

Direct causal relationship between smoking and COVID-19 outcomes: the work of CoEHAR researchers finds confirmations in an english cohort study. Compared with people who had never smoked, current smoking was associated with one-third lower risk of hospitalization

The geography of Harm Reduction: while snus and chewing tobacco are distributed worldwide, the literature is incomplete and deceiving

The widespread availability of safer nicotine delivery systems without the harms from tobacco, as has been demonstrated for Swedish snus and some other forms of smokeless tobacco products, is a route to ending smoking in the not too distant future as we are already witnessing in Sweden and Norway. A clear distinction needs to be made between the safer snus and refined smokeless tobacco products used in Sweden, Norway and increasingly in the US, and the far riskier unrefined SLT products used in Asia, Middle East and Africa

Harm Reduction and bias: a review confirms that ecigs are less harmful, but high-quality studies are much needed

"It is surprising to note that there are very few studies that can be considered truly informative of the risk-benefit ratio of new technologies with reduced risk in terms of their impact on health. We are proud to say that CoEHAR research ranks among the best in the current scientific landscape"

Vaping: necessary clinic and functional indicators to assess tobacco harm reduction and related benefits

Tobacco harm reduction theories and their fundamental principles are questioned worldwide. New indicators specifically designed to establish the harm reduction potential of low risk tobacco products are examined by CoEHAR, with promising results

Ecigs and Heated Tobacco Products: an innovative new CoEHAR study assesses the harm reversal on respiratory cilia

For the first time, CoEHAR researchers used the saccharin test transit time to compare the data on the regeneration of respiratory cilia among current, former and never smokers, electronic cigarette users and heated tobacco products users. The results suggest that combustion-free nicotine delivery technologies are unlikely to have detrimental effects on mucociliary clearance
